First Response Emergency Care Level 3

First Responder

First Responders possess the skills to identify, evaluate, and, when feasible, provide care for critically ill or injured individuals. They can also call for additional support if necessary. To ensure safety, we do not operate with solo First Responders; a minimum of two personnel is required in each First Aid unit.

First Response Emergency Care Level 4

The scope of practice for FREC 4 Responders  is varied and broader than FREC 3  First Responders. They have sound knowledge and skill set to manage emergency situations, such as cardiac arrest, heart attacks, diabetic emergencies etc. They are able to assess and manage casualties, while at the same time recognising if additional resources are required. They may solely manage the patient and take them to the hospital. This unit can transport patients, including those categorised as needing urgent and time-critical transfer. Emergency Medical Technician crews may be the only units on site or they may be part of a bigger multidisciplinary team.

Emergency Medical Technician  EMT

The range of practice for FREC 4 Responders is more comprehensive and diverse than that of FREC 3 First Responders. They have a strong foundation of knowledge and skills to effectively manage emergencies like cardiac arrest, heart attacks, and diabetic emergencies. These responders are adept at assessing and treating casualties while recognising when additional resources are needed. They may independently handle patient care and transport them to healthcare facilities. This unit can facilitate the transfer of patients, including those requiring urgent and time-sensitive interventions. Emergency Medical Technician teams may either be the sole responders on-site or collaborate within a larger multidisciplinary team.

Medical Manager / Operational Commander

The role of the Medical Manager is one of responsibility and accountability. Medical Managers must have an overview of what is going on at any time. They are required to provide guidance and direction to the team and must be sure the team know what is expected of them and how that may be achieved. For example, they will set out how an event is to run from a medical team perspective. This would follow the risk assessments and expectations of event organisers.

We understand that event organisers need to have contact with someone within a team at any time. The Medical Manager will be the immediate point of contact during an event. They will facilitate a two-way dialogue between you and the Catseye Response  team to ensure that patients receive the best care and that event organisers or shift managers are able to have any concerns or changes to plans dealt with quickly. This role within our team is usually undertaken by a senior member of our team such as and Operations Manager, Training Officer or Operations Director.
