First Response Emergency Care Level 3

First Responder

Our Level 3 First Responders are highly trained professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess, treat, and stabilise patients suffering from serious illness or injury. They provide critical pre-hospital care and ensure the right emergency support is requested when needed.

To maintain the highest safety standards, we never operate with solo responders. Every First Aid unit is staffed with a minimum of two qualified personnel, ensuring effective teamwork and patient safety at all times.

This qualification meets Level D requirements of the Purple Guide, aligning with recognised event medical standards and best practice guidelines across the UK.

First Response Emergency Care Level 4

FREC 4 Responders have an extended and advanced scope of practice compared to FREC 3 First Responders. With a strong clinical knowledge base and advanced practical skills, they are equipped to manage a wide range of emergency situations, including:

  • Cardiac arrest

  • Heart attacks

  • Diabetic emergencies

  • Other medical and traumatic incidents

FREC 4 Responders can carry out full patient assessments, deliver effective treatment, and identify when additional or specialist resources are required. They are also qualified to manage patients independently and transport them to hospital when needed.

These responders are authorised to transport patients requiring urgent or time-critical care. They may work as a standalone emergency unit or as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside other emergency services.

FREC 4 Responders meet Level E requirements as set out in the Purple Guide.

Emergency Medical Technician  EMT

The range of practice for FREC 4 Responders is more comprehensive and diverse than that of FREC 3 First Responders. They have a strong foundation of knowledge and skills to effectively manage emergencies like cardiac arrest, heart attacks, and diabetic emergencies. These responders are adept at assessing and treating casualties while recognising when additional resources are needed. They may independently handle patient care and transport them to healthcare facilities. This unit can facilitate the transfer of patients, including those requiring urgent and time-sensitive interventions. Emergency Medical Technician teams may either be the sole responders on-site or collaborate within a larger multidisciplinary team. Meets Level F requirements of the Purple Guide

Operational Commander / Medical Manager

At Catseye Response, the Operational Commander plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and professionalism of our operations. This position carries significant responsibility and accountability, overseeing all medical and operational activity during an event.

Our Operational Commanders provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the team — ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and how to deliver the highest standards of care and service. They plan and coordinate how each event will be managed from an operational and medical perspective, in line with risk assessments and the expectations of event organisers.

During events, the Operational Commander acts as the immediate point of contact for organisers. They maintain clear, two-way communication between the Catseye Response team and event management, ensuring that patient care remains the top priority and that any operational concerns or changes are dealt with promptly and effectively.

This key leadership role is typically undertaken by one of our senior team members, such as an Operations Manager, Training Officer, or Operations Director.
