RRV-Rapid Response Vehicle

Skoda Octavia Scout

Purpose of Rapid Response Vehicles

An Ambulance Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) is a specialised emergency response car used by ambulance services to deliver fast medical assistance to patients before a full ambulance arrives. These vehicles are typically operated by advanced paramedics, emergency care practitioners, or critical care clinicians and are designed for speed, mobility, and early clinical intervention. RRVs are common in many emergency medical systems, including those operated by the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom. When RRVs Are Dispatched Emergency dispatch centers send RRVs to many high-priority incidents, including:

  • Cardiac arrest
  • Serious trauma
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Stroke symptoms
  • Severe allergic reactions
They are often dispatched alongside an ambulance, arriving first to stabilise the patient until transport arrives.

  • Resuscitation and airway equipment
  • Trauma care
